About Carrie and Sara
Carrie Jacobs M, OTR/L
Owner and director of OT OuTdoors, Carrie has specialized in sensory processing treatments for both children and adults for 25 years. She is licensed by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
Carrie and her husband Jeremy are both native San Diegans along with Robert their 7-year-old son. Robert sometimes participates in treatment sessions as a peer model. Both are supportive and an integral part of the daily life at OT OuTdoors.

- Master of Occupational Therapy, University of Southern Maine and Bachelor of Rhetoric and Communication, University of California, Davis
- Completed all course work offered by the American Hippotherapy Association
- Utilized highly trained service dogs in her OT practice since 2002 to help clients with social skills, fine motor and gross motor coordination and strengthening
- Consultant for REINS therapeutic riding program in Fallbrook
- Guest lecturer University of St. Augustine OT / PT program, Grossmont College COTA program and Path regional conference
- School presentations at Fuerte Elementary, Our Lady of Grace and Francis Parker
- Provided Occupational Therapy services at: Francis Parker, Mission Hills Pre-School, Explorer Elementary, High-Tech Middle and High School, La Mesa Spring Valley School District, The Balboa City School, Julian Charter School and River Valley High School
- Served on the Board of Directors for the Occupational Therapy Association of California, San Diego Chapter
- Volunteered as an adaptive ski instructor and served on the Board of Directors for the Lost Valley Handicapped Ski Association

Sara Martinez COTA/L
Sara is a licensed COTA who graduated from Grossmont College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant Program in 2019. She also has a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with emphasis in Biology, Psychology and Education from SDSU. She completed her Level II Fieldwork rotation here at OT OuTdoors and after graduating, became an amazing addition to our team. Her co-authored article “Giddy Up Trike” was published in the 2019 Winter Edition of American Hippotherapy Magazine (AHA). She has also completed the Level I course work offered by the American Hippotherapy Association. Her innovative and individualized treatment plans lead our clients to learning and growing.
Originally from Indiana, Sara moved out to San Diego in 2004. Before pursuing occupational therapy as a career, Sara was employed at SeaWorld as a Dolphin Trainer where she provided educational, animal interactions to park guests. It was here that she discovered her passion for working with and providing opportunities to individuals living with disabilities
