OT OuTdoors relies heavily on a staff of weekly volunteers. Volunteers make the program possible by leading horses during lessons, side walking with clients to ensure safety, grooming and tacking horses, and maintaining and improving the facility. You can volunteer for one or more shifts, but we appreciate it if you can commit to coming at the same time every week for a minimum of SIX MONTHS. Please understand that we need our volunteers to be DEPENDABLE and COMMITTED! We depend on you to arrive on the days you have been scheduled. Volunteer orientation sessions are held throughout the year.
Do you dream of dirt and mud? Maybe a bit of manure? We sure do! Volunteers work outside with the animals in ALL weather conditions - That means Rain, Heat, Cold, and any combination thereof. Along with being physically exhausting it gets VERY messy. Please take note of this and think carefully before applying to a position. We completely understand if this isn't the right volunteer experience for you. Anyone 12 and older is welcome to volunteer.
Many of the OT OuTdoors volunteers are retired adults who want to give back to their community, teenagers fulfilling community service requirements for school, animal lovers who just want to be near the horses and dogs, and pre-OT or PT students fulfilling application requirement hours. One of the great things about OT and PT is the wide variety of settings we're able to work in. OT OuTdoors prides itself on providing an incredibly unique and rewarding experience for our team of enthusiastic volunteers. We are able to offer a hands on observation experience that Pre OT/PT students won't find anywhere else. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please fill out our Volunteer Application found here and send it along to [email protected] along with a copy of your current resume.
